A clinical investigator (or co-investigator) is any licensed dentist who has signed up and been accepted as a co-investigator for Dentistry.AI. Co-investigators must agree to use Dentistry.AI in their clinical practice and provide feedback for evaluating its effectiveness and utility in providing patient care. Co-investigators must accept the terms of the required standard documents by clicking “I Accept”. There are two required standard documents (1) Investigator Agreement under Dentistry.AI’s investigation protocol; and (2) Business Associate Agreement (BAA). A co-investigator’s role is to install the Dentistry.AI software at their clinic, use it in their clinical practice, and provide feedback on the software’s performance. Feedback is collected within the software interface.
Denistry.AI has received a waiver of patient consent under U.S. FDA regulations. Thus, there is no requirement for dentists to get patient consent for using Dentistry.AI in their clinic. Dentists are permitted to use Dentistry.AI in their clinical practice while providing regular patient care, just like they would use any tool in their clinic.
However, as a matter of choice, dentists may find it beneficial to show patients the caries predicted by Dentistry.AI while discussing their clinical findings and deciding treatment plans. Such discussions with patients are neither required nor prohibited: it is solely a matter of the dentist’s preference.
